Close Add or Remove Programs and Control Panel back to the Desktop. If you have more than one instance of QuickTime installed, repeat to uninstall all instances. Click on Remove or Change/Remove, and follow the prompts to uninstall QuickTime. Scroll down the "Currently installed programs" list to the QuickTime entry, and click on the entry to highlight it. Do not close Add or Remove Programs - continue to the next steps. If you have more than one instance of MME installed, repeat to uninstall all instances. Click on Remove or Change/Remove, and follow the prompts to uninstall MME. Scroll down the "Currently installed programs" list to the Myst Masterpiece Edition entry, and click on the entry to highlight it. Wait for the "Currently installed programs" list to populate, which might take a minute or so. Click on Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Use Control Panel's Add or Remove Programs to uninstall MME. I followed these instructions off of the Ubisoft forums: "1) Uninstall everything and install an old version of Quicktime. (you can get an older version of quicktime here ) Second option, this was some people who used the gog version but I think it can work for steam users as well. "comp mode for "Windows 98 / Windows Me", Run in 640 x 480 screen res, Disable visual themes, Disable desktop comp, Disable display scaling, Run program as administrator." Note that the gog version officially does support windows 8 although it has had problems for some users, gog does have a 30 day refund policy though These are some instructions I found that might make it work for you for the steam version
